Babylon was a sophisticated society, with enough distraction to keep any Hebrew in the constant tension between devotion to God and an unhealthy love for this world.
Daniel, on the other hand, was absolute in His devotion to God, and uncompromising in his purpose. He sought for excellence in his position as leaven. If you want to find someone with a reason for bitterness, you’ve just found him—taken away from his family, made into a eunuch, and forced to serve among the cultists. Greatness in God is often on the other side of injustice and offense. Daniel made it over this hurdle, but not because he was great. He was victorious because of His devotion to the One who is great! Ministry update and request for prayer for our ministry in Guatemala. The word Pentecost means 'fifty'.
It is the fiftieth day after the Passover sabbath. It is also called the Feast of Weeks, which was one of the Jewish feasts or festivals. When we talk about Pentecost today, we are talking about the Pentecost that came fifty days after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was during this Pentecost that the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the first followers of Christ. Thus, from an historical point of view, Pentecost is the day on which the church was born. Pentecost marks the coming of the Holy Spirit on the disciples to empower them to take the message of the KofG to the world. Pentecost is the fulfilment of two promises … 1) an Old Testament promise– Joel 2:28, which says “I will pour out my Spirit on all people”, and 2) a New Testament promise- where Jesus says He will send another Counsellor, Comforter, Spirit of truth, or the HS, to live in each believer (Jn 16: 5-15). Today we want to acknowledge and welcome the presence of the HS, the third part of the God head- Father, Son, Holy Spirit. The news concerning our nation and the corruption in our government is very discouraging and can even be depressing. Regardless of whether we live in a great country or a bad one, we are called as sojourners in the land. This is not our country, we belong to another Kingdom. Our calling is to help establish the order of this heavenly Kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven. Yes, the loss we are experiencing as a nation is sad and unnecessary, but the Kingdom of God is advancing. God's will, will come about.
Psa 18: 31 For who is God, but the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God,
Psa 18:46 The Lord lives, and blessed be my rock; And exalted be the God of my salvation, God is the rock on which we stand. He is our stability and our source of strength. We must build our lives on the rock of Christ and not the shifting sands of this world. That process begins with our worship- exalting God and humbling our hearts. Age is merely the number of years the world has been enjoying you. Unknown
I thank God that His resurrection life is alive in me and His Spirit is giving life to my mortal body. I am filled to overflowing with His abundant life. My life is in God's hands- every part of my life- physical, spiritual, mental, emotional. Do I trust Him with every area of my life? I thank God that the curse of death has been broken off of me through the blood of Christ. I will not judge my life by my symptoms or my circumstances, but by the hope I have in Christ.
It was good to focus on the resurrection in our prayers at MyHop tonight. There is such hope that is provided in the resurrection. The hope for resurrection is not just for the future, it is for the present as well. Resurrection life is alive in me NOW. I walk in resurrection life. That life affects every area of my life. My heart should never despair but always be filled with hope. I have neither the right to despair nor reason to despair. Thank you Lord.
